I-70 Mountain Corridor Highway Expansion

Highway
Expansion - Creating Tomorrows Transportation Problems Today

Transportation
is more than just Highways!
The Vision of the Colorado
Department of Transportation is to
enhance the quality of life and the environment of the citizens of Colorado by creating
an integrated transportation system that focuses on moving people and
goods by offering convenient linkages among modal choices.
The Mission
of the Colorado Department of Transportation is to provide the best multi modal Transportation system for Colorado that most
effectively moves people, goods and information.
Under the Owens
Administration, CDOT has acted only as a Department of
Highways, pledging to bring more vehicles, more accidents,
more asphalt, more traffic, more construction, more congestion, more noise,
more back country sprawl, more road rage and more pollution to the beautiful Colorado High
Country.
Clearly a 21st Century
multi-modal approach to solving the mountain corridor transportation
problem is closer to CDOT’s real Vision and Mission.
Enhancing transit options in
the corridor including the use of carpools, vanpools, buses, shuttles,
additional park and ride facilities and an elevated rail transit
guideway adjacent to or outside the highway alignment, MUST
be the final solution for the I-70 mountain corridor.
Which is
the future most consistent with CDOT's Vision?
